Develop the change, but make it sexy

In my previous life as a Financial analyst, I was always obsessed with making things better, maybe because I started my career off at a utility company , which are known for mottos like “ if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. I quickly realized I had an eye for making processes better and scalable. Basically, I liked to automate tedious processes to make my life a bit easier.

This was when I first got hit with the “coding bug”. From here I went on to attend CodeSquad , a free bootcamp after working hours, all while becoming a better FA by automating my month-end processes at my day job. During my time at the coding bootcamp, I realized that coding was creative and that the creative process was just as important as coding. This may be due to my time as a serial manga doodler. Everything I coded had to look good visually AKA it had to be sexy. Eventually I was skilled and lucky enough to land my first paid gig at a company we all know as Wayfair. And that’s the origin story!
